I will brand each section with bold print to make it easier to read and navigate and hopefully increase understanding of the canon of Undertale here.
Pre-Game | Pre-Banishment
A long time ago, Humans and Monsters lived on the surface in harmony. There had never been a war against the two until fear grew among the humans. Humans feared the monsters' ability to steal their souls. Legends told that should a monster ever absorb the soul of a human, they would become extremely powerful if nigh unstoppable. Due to this fear, the humans struck out against the monsters. The war raged on for quite some time. Many monsters fell in the war and yet not even a single human soul was stolen during the conflict. Soon enough, the King of the Monsters surrendered to the humans.
The humans then forced the monsters underground beneath Mt. Ebott. Seven human mages then used their powers to create a barrier around the underground. Due to this, anyone could go through the barrier and into the Underground, but nothing could exit. This trapped the monsters beneath the earth for many years.
Pre-Game | Post-Banishment
Sometime later, Asriel was born from King Asgore and Queen Toriel. Asriel was a timid boy that is hinted to been homeschooled by Toriel. The boy became the hope of the Underground as it showed life could continue on in the Underground. One day while Asriel was in the RUINS, Asriel heard someone crying out for help. He followed the voice and found the first fallen human. Asriel helped the human, named Chara, back to his home in the Captial. Toriel and Asgore adopted the human as their second child, while Asriel grew close to the human. The two became best friends.
During their time together, Asriel and Chara attempted to make a butterscotch cinnamon pie. Unfortunately, the two mistook cups of butter for buttercups and accidentally poisoned Asgore. Asriel felt terrible for the accident while Chara simply laughed it off. This incident gave Chara an idea. As Chara hated humanity, they convinced Asriel to let them eat buttercups to kill themselves so Asriel could absorb their soul. Then together they could leave the Underground and gather six more human souls. With the souls, they could break the barrier and free the monsters. At Chara's persisting, Asriel gathered the buttercups.
Soon after, Chara died and Asriel absorbed Chara's soul. Chara gained control of Asriel's body and new found power. They picked up their dead body and went through the barrier. They traveled to their village with the intent to kill all the humans there. When the humans attacked, Asriel stopped Chara. He resisted Chara's control and fought back. He forced himself to simply leave while he took blow after blow from the humans. He returned home, only to collapse in the throne room and turn to dust. Golden Flower seeds fell upon the ground of the throne room and mixed with his dust, causing golden flowers to grow in the throne room ever since.
Pre Game | Post Asriel's Death
Sometime after Asriel died, Dr. Alphys was named Royal Scientist after the disappearance of the previous one. Asgore charged Alphys with discovering a means of destroying the barrier. After much research, Alphys discovered no monster souls could be used on their own to shatter the barrier due to the fact they were not as strong as even a single human soul. She used blueprints left behind by the previous royal scientist to create the DT Siphon machine. She used this and the notes she had to discovered the element within a human soul that allows them to persist after death; Determination.
However, due to the frailty of a monster's body, no monster or human could hold the power needed to destroy the barrier. So she sought to find a means of creating a vessel. She chose the first flower in Asgore's garden, hoping to surprise Asgore. She injected pure determination into the flower. Doing so changed the course of the history of the Underground and inevitably the surface completely.
Pre Game | Flowey's Birth and the first SAVE file
When the golden flower was injected with Determination, Asriel was resurrected as a golden flower. His dust had melded with the flower and thus part of him still existed within it. The Determination gave Asriel the will to live. He cried out, unable to feel his legs and arms. Eventually, Asgore heard the cries and came to the flower. Asriel told his father who he was and what he was feeling. Despite being held by his father and watching the man cry, Asriel felt nothing. After a time of feeling no love, Asriel left.
He made his way to the RUINS and found Toriel there, his mother. He had hoped she would help him to feel love again. Only, she couldn't. She had failed him as his father had. Without being able to feel love, Asriel fell into Despair. He didn't want to live in a world where he could no feel love. And so he attempted to take his own life. However, as he was dying, he realized he truly didn't want to die. He wanted to live and this Determination to live sent him back in time.
Pre-Game | The First Reset and Many Others
Asriel reappeared back in the garden of the throne room. He had returned to his first SAVE. He was back at the very moment he had awoken as a flower. Perplexed by this, he decided to see what he could do with this new power. He took on the name Flowey to spare his parents pain and to attempt to make them happy. He did it. He went around solving everyone's problems, resetting when he did something wrong so he could do it all again. He did it over and over until he could solve everyone's problems with ease.
However, Flower eventually became bored with this. He decided to see what would happen if he said certain things. What would happen if he killed people. He even went through and killed everyone in the Underground. He soon found every person in the Underground too predicable. He knew all they would do and say. He had played out every possibility of the timeline.
And then everything changed.
During Game | Frisk's Arrival
Over time six other humans fell into the underground. They all died one way or another and their souls were gathered by King Asgore. Then one day, the seventh human fell into the Underground. Frisk the human had entered the Underground. Flowey had been in the RUINS and was the first monster Frisk came upon. Flowey pretended to be a kind monster and offered to show them how to get stronger through gaining EXP and LV, which he explained stood for LOVE. He attacked Frisk, telling them to catch his "Friendliness Pellets." When Frisk did, they were nearly killed. Flowey attempted to finish Frisk off and take their soul but was stopped by Toriel. He was hit with a fireball and blasted away.
When this happened, Flowey attempted to reset to his SAVE filed but found he couldn't. He soon realized that Frisk had more Determination than he did and was not in control of the timeline. Because of this, all he could do was watch. After Frisk left the RUINS, Flowey was waiting and warned them that they would have to Kill or Be Killed and left. He would watch Frisk go through the Underground, moving through the different possibilities.
During Game | Neutral Endings
Due to the nature of the Underground thanks to Frisk and Flowey's Determination, any and all timelines occurred. It's impossible to say none happened due to the nature of resets and SAVE points. Time loops with every reset, destroying the last timeline. All that remained of the previous timeline were the memories of it held by Flowey and Frisk. The only other person who possibly knows anything about the timeline is Sans, though the true extent of San's knowledge is unknown. Nonetheless, time loops in on itself, leading to different outcomes before being reset one more.
The following are the different neutral endings.
The Toriel Ending Tree
1) The Family Ending: For this timeline, Frisk didn't kill any monsters and attempted to spare Asgore in their final fight. However, Flowey was not about to let that happen. He used the fight with Asgore as a distraction to gain the six human souls. He chastised Frisk for being an idiot. He planned on absorbing Frisk's soul as the last he needed to become God of the world. Unfortunately for Flowey, he couldn't defeat Frisk. Frisk was able to call to the human souls inside him and they turned against Flowey. Flowey was defeated and yet still Frisk spared him. Flowey was unable to understand why Frisk wasn't willing to kill him. He ran away, unable to understand the kindness.
After Frisk left the Underground, Toriel returned to the Capital and took over the Underground. The six souls had vanished and the monsters chance to escaped had vanished. Toriel put in a new order to treat all humans who fall into the Underground as friends and taken care of. Undyne became Alphys' assistant and the Royal Guard were disbanded. Papyrus became the head of the new Royal Guard, who were now in charge of watering flowers instead of fighting. Everyone was trying to keep hope though it looked grim.
Flowey appeared to Frisk at the end and gave them advice that if they tried to become better friends with Alphys, perhaps they could get a better ending.
2) The Betrayed Undyne Ending
This loop was much like the previous one except after Frisk fought Undyne and (regardless of befriending her or not) killed a monster afterward. Frisk didn't kill anyone leading up to Undyne but did after, triggering this series of events. Flowey was still able to gather the souls and morph into Omega/Photoshop Flowey but lost yet again. This time Frisk received a message that Toriel had taken over. Undyne swore vengeance upon Frisk after betraying their trust. Flowey appeared again to Frisk and told them that perhaps killing wasn't the way to go.
3) The Exiled Queen Ending
During this loop, Frisk killed ten or more monsters, and killed Undyne and possibly Papyrus. In this timeloop, Toriel's attempted rule of accepting humans as friends backfired and the monsters rebelled against her rule. Sans and Toriel fled to the RUINS to hide, taking Papyrus with them if he's still alive. Again, Flowey appears to Frisk and begins to wonder if Frisk is trying to start the Flowey fan club. He told Frisk that playing and messing with Papyrus was fun and that Papyrus was one of his favorites.
Undyne Ending
During this loop, Frisk killed Toriel but spared Undyne.
After this ending and the battle with Flowey, Undyne took over the Underground and militarized all of the monsters. Undyne swore to wage war on the humans and destroy them all. If Papyrus is alive, he tells Frisk he now has the most important position in the Royal Guard. Which is to stand around and look cute. If Papyrus is dead, Sans simply warns Frisk that things are looking bad for them before Sans hangs up.
This time when Flowey speaks to Frisk, he jokes about the fan club again. Though he warns Frisk against letting Sans know about too much. He informs Frisk that Sans has caused Flowey his own large number of resets.
Mettaton Ending
In this time loop, Frisk killed Toriel and Undyne but did not kill Mettaton. Mettaton took over the Underworld and brainwashed all monsters with his television show. Sans became Mettaton's agent. Mettaton set forth a new rule that all humans who fall into the Underground can join his fan club free of charge. He was going to ask Alphys to assist him in ruling the Underground but Alphys vanished. If Papyrus is still alive, he is the second agent of Mettaton. However, anyone who doesn't worship Mettaton goes missing mysteriously.
At this point, Flowey observes that Frisk now is just bored and seeing all of the different endings. He vows to stop speaking to them.
Papyrus Ending
In this time loop, Frisk killed Toriel, Undyne, Mettaton, but not Papyrus. Due to this, Papyrus became the ruler of the Underground. He instilled a rule that humans could not all be judged as good or bad but that they will get puzzles anyway. The Underground turned into a rather nice place due to Papyrus being king. Sans, however, does most of the work for his brother in this timeloop.
Flowey again appears and asks Frisk if they have anything better to do than go through all of these endings.
Dog Ending In this time loop, Frisk killed Toriel, Undyne, Mettaton, and Papyrus but no one else. A dog became ruler of the Underground. It sleeps on the throne all day and somehow everyone is quite happy with this ending.
Again Flowey wonders if Frisk has anything truly better to do.
The Leaderless/No Mercy Ending
In this timeline, Frisk killed Toriel, Undyne, Meeaton, Papyrus, and other monsters. In this ending, the Underworld is left leaderless and and less crowded. There is no hope in the Underground after this route and they know they are doomed.
When Flowey speaks to Frisk this time, Flowey chastises them for only going half way. They say killing is fine but clearly more needs to be done.
Alphys/Near Genocide Ending
In this loop, Frisk begins to Genocide ending, slaughtering every monsters the entire way through the Underground until they reach Hotland. In this timeloop, Flowey originally agrees to join forces with Frisk, saying they are in fact Chara, and wants to end the world with them. When Frisk ends the Genocide route and continues to Asgore, killing Mettaton along the way. Alphys took over the Underground after Frisk defeated Flowey and vanished. Alphys released the monsters from her true lab and was hailed as a hero. She was elected leader of the Underground, and still wished she had killed Frisk when she had the chance.
Flowey this time is angry at Chara. He asked why they would throw away their chance at real victory and making up at last. Flowey then wonders if this is revenge against him. Then he comes to realize this is all for Chara wanting to see the monsters happiness then to tear it from them. Flowey says he'll be waiting for Chara.
Note: Should Frisk ever kill Flowey in a Neutral ending, Flowey vanishes through the next timeloop until the end. He surprise kills Asgore and laughs at Frisk, asking if they truly thought killing them would work since resetting undid his death.
During Game | True Pacifist Ending
After running through any and/or all of the Neutral endings, Frisk finally goes through the adventure without killing anyone. With Flowey's advice, Frisk befriends all of the monsters and the final battle with Asgore never happens. Instead, Toriel, Undyne, Alphys, Papyrus, and Sans step in to stop the fighting before it can happen. When Alphys realizes that Papyrus called them all (minus Toriel) to help Frisk out, she asks how he knew about the fight if he showed up after her. Papyrus says that it was a little flower who told him. Alphys, realizing what he meant, shakes in fear.
It was then Flowey struck, capturing all of the monsters in his vines. He laughed at Frisk, telling them that it was all their fault. He had gained the six human souls again but this time, he would absorb all of the monsters in the Underground souls too. He told Frisk why he was doing this; to keep Frisk resetting and trying again and again because it was all a game. This game Flowey was now playing was one he never wanted to end. He finally had someone who understood him and could play his game. He said he would continue to let Frisk almost reach the happy ending before tearing it away.
Flowey attempted to kill Frisk but was stopped by the monsters. They all gave words of encouragement to Frisk. All of the monsters Frisk had befriended appeared to cheer Frisk on, only to all fall into Flowey's clutches. He absorbed every soul in the Underground, minus Napstablook, and was able to return to his true form.
He again became Asriel and turned to Frisk. He asked if Chara could hear him, still convinced Chara was inside Frisk or was Frisk themselves. He then morphed himself into a legendary being comprised of every soul in the Underground; The Absolute God of Hyperdeath. During the fight with Frisk, he told Frisk he would reset the timeline to zero and force Frisk to do everything all over again. He knew Frisk would because Frisk wanted their happy ending and because they loved their friends. Even if Asriel dealt the final blow, Frisk's soul refused to die and would regenerate.
Asriel taunted Frisk, saying every time they died, their friends inside him could forget them more and soon even Frisk would forget every timeline and be forced to play through them all over again. However, Frisk's determination allowed them to reach inside Asriel and begin to restore the memories of their friends. Doing so, they felt something resonate inside Asriel and reached out to save him.
At first, Asriel freaked out and tried to kill Frisk. He told them to stop and begged Chara to understand why he was doing this. He told Frisk he did this because Chara was the only one to understand him and was the one person he cared about in this world. Despite unleashing his power, he couldn't kill Frisk. Soon his compassion came back and Asriel realized all he had done wrong. He used the power of the souls to break the barrier and let them all go free.
Despite everything, Frisk forgave him and comforted him when he confessed without the souls, he couldn't keep his true body for long. He would soon turn back into Flowey. He asked Frisk to not think of it as him if they saw him again. They shared a hug and Asriel asked Frisk to look after his parents. Later, Frisk found Asriel in the ruins. He told Frisk that even though Chara wasn't the best kind of friend, they were his best friend. He knew Chara climbed the mountain because they hated humanity and wondered why Frisk did. He didn't pry and eventually just asked Frisk if they had something better to do.
Once Frisk left the Underground with everyone and were happy, he turned back into Flowey. At this time, he spoke to Chara again and asked if they were going to reset. He asked Chara to not reset and to let Frisk and the others have their happiness. But if they did reset, he didn't want to remember any of the True Pacifist ending and for his memories to be erased too. It seems he does remember this later, however.
Genocide Ending
In this timeline, Flowey enjoys watching Frisk kill every monster in the ruins, including Toriel. He acknowledges Frisk as Chara again and they team up. He assists with solving puzzles as Chara simply walks through them, not bothering to solve any. As Chara fights through everyone and reaches the capital, Flowey recounts his story for Chara. He talks about how he awoke as a flower and discovered his powers. He goes over how he played out every possibility and got bored before Chara came back. He also seemed to hint he had observed Chara play out every timeline they could possibly do as well. This would mean observing the True Pacifist ending as well. He apologizes for trying to kill them at the beginning of the loop and all other times, as well as failing to go along with their plan before he died as Asriel.
Then he begins to shake in fear as he realizes Chara isn't going to let him live. Eventually, he will just be in their way. He tells them they have a sick sense of humor and runs off. After Chara kills Sans, Flowey realizes his death is inevitable. He goes to warn his father, Asgore, about the human. Unfortunately, Asgore doesn't listen and is struck down by Chara. In an attempt to redeem himself, Flowey kills Asgore for Chara. He tells Chara he was lying to Asgore and was going to kill him the entire time. In the end, he begs Chara to not kill him but is mercilessly slashed again and again until he dies.
At this point, Chara appears and one way or another takes Frisk's soul. From this timeloop on, Frisk is possessed by Chara. No matter what. Due to this timeloop altering all others, it comes as one of the very last time loops.
Soulless Pacifist Ending
In the final timeline, Frisk goes through the same motions as the True Pacifist Ending, but is possessed by Chara. Chara's goal in this was to be free from the Underground once and for all so they could end humanity. Flowey again becomes Asriel with the intent to restart the timeline at zero but fails once more. He is defeated and leaves, thinking Frisk is truly Frisk. He again becomes Flowey, only this time all he can do is watch as Chara is freed and goes out into the human world. Chara is free to end the world from outside.
Again due to the nature of all of the time loops, they are all considered canon. Though there are different paths to take, with the reset ability and Asriel's ability to remember them all, they are all part of his canon. Time constantly loops on itself, plays out a timeline, then destroys that timeline to again move through another one. This means Asriel, as Flowey, though he plays his part over and over again, knows all of these events happened. He remembers them all and this affects him as Flowey. He even knows when someone resets to change a choice made and comments on it whenever this happens. This further shows just how looping the time lines are and that all are canon.
Abilities/Special Powers: LPowers and Abilities: Asriel, at his current canon point, hasn't shown any powers yet. Due to both his parent's knowing fire magic, it is likely he will have the ability to learn it as well. Due to the nature of the game, I will go into the other powers he gets here as canon updating will be a thing.
As a monster, Asriel also has the ability to absorb souls. All monsters can do this but it entails the death of a human to do it. If someone dies, soon after Asriel has the opportunity to absorb their soul and become stronger. This power carries on to all of the other forms Asriel has ever taken.
Powers as Flowey:
As Flowey the Flower, Asriel has a few new powers. First, he has the ability to manifest and shoot energy bullets at his enemies. He mostly enjoys circling them so they cannot escape and hitting them with barrage after barrage. They aren't too powerful alone but can wear down an opponent given enough hits.
Flowey also has the power of DETERMINATION. This allows him to reset timelines and rewind time to a past SAVE point. This power in Nautilus won't be able to be done to any large extent. Maybe he could save and rewind a total of thirty seconds or so but only affecting himself and maybe another person, should he have the willpower to do so. It would count as Opposed Bending and be handled the same, player permission needed.
Flowey, being a flower, also has the ability to stretch vines out from the ground. He can grab things, push buttons, cover and barricade doors and the like. He is also able to dig into the ground and move around through the ground. This allows him to move around as he is a flower and can't just get up and walk.
Should Flowey absorb six souls, he can transform into Photoshop Flowey. This version of Flowey is much larger than the tiny golden flower. He has the ability to shoot out strong vines, generate Venus flytraps that shoot out killer flies, drop bombs with his face on them, and launch large green grassy monsters with mouths. He is a difficult opponent to beat as he also utilizes his reset powers to rewind time at random intervals to distract and disorientate his opponents.
Powers as The Absolute God of Hyperdeath:
Should Asriel gain a massive amount of souls, he can become The Absolute God of Hyperdeath. This form is how he would imagine himself as an adult as well as his childish ideas of power. This form comes with much more power as well as a set number of attacks. They are listed below.
Fire Magic: Asriel copies his Mother's fire attacks and throws large amounts of fireballs at his enemies.
Chaos Buster: Asriel summons a blaster and fires waves of bullets telegraphed by lasers, and finishes with a charged beam. The upgraded version, "Chaos Blaster", is faster, lasts longer, and adds an explosion of star-bullets to the final charged beam.
Chaos Saber: Asriel hovers just above the battlefield and swipes each half with summoned blades, finishing by swiping both sides and releasing deadly sparks. The upgraded version, "Chaos Slicer", is faster and deadlier.
Shocker Breaker: Asriel strikes the battlefield with bolts of lightning, which are forewarned by bright boxes looking like [!] where they are going to land. The upgraded version, "Shocker Breaker II", adds a series of targeted strikes after the small pattern, then finishes by sweeping the battlefield left to right.
Star Blazing: Massive stars rain onto the battlefield from above, exploding into rings of star-bullets when they touch anything, culminating with one extra-large star that releases three extra-dense bullet rings. The upgraded version, "Galacta Blazing", drops even more stars than before.
Hyper Goner: Asriel's final attack. Asriel summons a creepy goat-skull-face sucks in bullets and other debris, as well as people.
Angel of Death Bullets: Asriel summons streams of bullets that appear like shooting stars. They launch from his hands and converge on their target. They are powerful attacks that can do some serious damage if hit by too many. He also can summon an exuberant number of them, making dodging them quite difficult.
Angel of Death Blast: Asriel launches a massive beam of rainbow colored energy at his opponents. It takes on a cone shape and expands the further out it goes.
Third-Person Sample: Minimum of three paragraphs, introspective piece, written in prose. We’re judging your grasp on the character and how you log with them;. We would prefer if this was not a simple re-telling of canon events, this way we can see how you handle the character's actions.
First-Person Sample: Show us that you can portray the character’s voice in a network post. Minimum of five sentences.
